New Committee voted in at HDPA AGM

It was heartwarming to see such a large number of enthusiastic people attend the Hartley District Progress Association’s AGM at the Old Hartley School on the evening of Monday 7th December. Thirty one people, many new to the area, signed the attendance book and the old school room felt quite full.

With Tom Kent retiring from Office, having served capably for two years, and also having relocated to Katoomba, the HDPA membership was delighted to have Ramsay Moodie of Hartley Vale stand for President.

Renzo Benedet of Mid Hartley stood for Vice President, Warren Elgar for Treasurer, and Sue Jack of Duddawarra for Secretary. All nominees were accepted with enthusiasm.

Ordinary Committee Members include newcomers, Joshua Barnes of Hartley Vale, and Peter Hurenkamp of Mid Hartley as well as two stalwarts, Seamus Casey of Mid Hartley and Ian Campbell of Hartley.

Susie Moodie,  who most ably puts together the quarterly community newsletter, accepted her post for another year. She is always keen for more stories and news to add to the newsletter . The next newsletter will be distributed in late February, so any news or information needs to be in her hands by late January or early February at the latest.

Barbara Johnson (phone 6352 5828) has undertaken to again manage the hiring of the School Hall, as well as to oversee the compilation of the Hartley Business Directory. If you are interested in having your local business listed at a very modest fee, contact Barb.

Susie Moodie and Joan Kent provided an excellent spread and many people stayed  on well after the meeting had finished to enjoy each other’s company over supper.

This is a very positive end to 2015 and we look forward to a new year of innovative ideas and activities.
