Acid Soil Paddock Walk & Information Day 23 November
23 November @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Many land managers in the area have been aware of the problem of soil acidity and the major implications this has on soil and pasture health. A handful of graziers in a variety situations from the Rydal/Sodwalls/Tarana are giving us the opportunity to have a look at the impacts of acid soils where it counts – in the paddock
Building on the soil surveys and Acid Soil Workshop held earlier in the year; Lithgow Oberon Landcare Association, with support from Local Land Services, are hosting an upcoming Acid Soils Paddock walk and Information Day.
David Harbison and Clare Edwards will be discussing the results of soil tests at the diverse properties we will be visiting with the aim of helping us understand what these results mean on the ground. Properties we will be visiting have been chosen to encompass sites with varying management practices and soil conditions including one property with high aluminium, and another which utilises poultry compost inputs.
The workshop aims to help producers to learn about soil health and how to apply appropriate land management techniques to address this issue back on their own property.
