Roadworks Around and About especially in Mt Victoria

Possible Delays on the Local Highways & Byways

from the Lithgow Mercury

THE local community and stakeholders are invited to staffed displays being held on Friday 30th & Saturday 31st to view the draft concept design for the proposed safety upgrade of the Great Western Highway in Mt Victoria village.

“Once completed the upgrade will deliver benefits including improved safety for motorists and pedestrians as well as for through traffic,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.

The upgrade work includes improvements to village intersections, the Mt Piddington Road curve, better property access and wider shoulders.

The staffed displays give the community an opportunity to meet the project team, learn more about the draft concept design and ask questions about the proposed safety upgrade.

“Community comments together with the investigations carried out will help determine a final design for the work, which is expected in the first half of next year,” the spokesperson said.

“The draft concept design for the proposed safety work in Mt Victoria village incorporates community feedback received on the draft plan which was released late last year.

“Changes made as a result of feedback on the early plans include safer vehicle access to properties and wider shoulders.”

The NSW and Federal governments have allocated $250 million to improve safety along the Great Western Highway between Katoomba and Lithgow.

This includes safety improvements at Mt Victoria village.

The staffed displays will be held Friday from 6pm to 8pm and on Saturday  from 11am to 3pm at Mt Victoria Public School.
