Road Resurfacing of GWH near Jenolan Caves Road Commences 3rd February

Roads and Maritime says motorists will soon benefit from a smoother journey on the Great Western Highway between Mt Victoria and Lithgow as it prepares to carry out work to upgrade several hundred metres of the road surface.

Work to resurface sections of the highway between River Lett Bridge and the bottom of River Lett Hill will be carried out between Monday February 3 and Saturday February 8 from 7am to 6pm, weather permitting.

Roads and Maritime plan to keep one lane in each direction open wherever possible to minimise disruptions.

Motorists are advised short delays may still be experienced and speed limits will be reduced to 40 km/h through the worksites.

Motorists should allow extra travel time and follow all signs and the direction of traffic controllers.

Motorists familiar with the local area, however, are certain to opt for the Hartley Valley Road/Browns Gap detour, bringing more traffic through the heart of Lithgow.

That route is not available to heavy vehicles.

Roads and Maritime has thanked motorists in advance for their patience during work.
