Council seeks Working Party Members to assist its Economic Development Committee

Council’s Economic Development Committee is seeking community representatives to join a number of working parties that will assist the committee in researching and developing policy and strategies on a range of economic development initiatives.
“The convened working parties will comprise both community members and Council staff working together for a three month fixed period on a project determined by the economic development committee, which upon completion is formally reported to the committee. Projects will be determined and allocated by the committee on a rolling basis for the life of the committee” said Mayor Stephen Lesslie.
“By way of example, tourism most likely will figure prominently in the Committees projects list with issues for exploration including the identification of a relevant and effective model for a Lithgow tourism entity and the research and development of an events framework to complement existing events in the Lithgow tourism Calendar” said Councillor Lesslie.
“Other projects may include the identification of new employment generating businesses and the prerequisite infrastructure for startup in the LGA, as well as regional opportunities presenting to Lithgow community and business that can be leveraged to provide either new employment or potentially increased profitability to our local businesses” said Councillor Lesslie.
Any interested community member is invited to register their interest together with their background and experience by way of email to economic.development@lithgow.nsw.gov.au
As numbers on Working Parties will be limited Council reserves its right to restrict allocation of members where the membership of the working party is full.
