The Problems of Warming Weather

News from the Lithgow Mercury, 10th September, 2013

Warm weather and strong winds are keeping emergency crews busy throughout the Lithgow district and beyond, with fires alight and trees down at numerous locations.

Rural Fire Service crews are currently controlling a small bushfire at Newnes near the Glowworm Tunnel and another flare up close to Oberon.

Lithgow RFS Firefighters are also being sent to Winamalee in the lower Blue Mountains for property protection duties as a blaze there causes concerns for local residents.

A tree has fallen across powerlines at Cullen Bullen with another one also down across powerlines at Running Stream.

Travel on the Jenolan Caves Road has been disrupted by a tree falling across the road this afternoon with both directions of traffic being closed by the incident.
